Abstract

Light is one of the most important factors for plant growth and development, regulating plants’ photosynthesis, metabolism, morphogenesis, gene expression, and other physiological responses. Modifying the light wavelength, photon flux (quantity of light), and photoperiod lets one to adjust biomass accumulation, flowering time, stem elongation, and nutritional quality

This article presents, the light requirements for growing crops, the concept of led grow light fixture, the main differences between the common supplemental lighting, important considerations for providing supplemental light to greenhouse, led grow light fixture basic circuit diagram and it operation principle. Also, it shows how to determine the light intensity needed from Led grow light to deliver the desired DLI. The article clarifies the superiority of Led grow light.

This articlealso, presents a design of LED plant grow light which is consisting of four groups of led strips, two groups G1 and G2 contains four blue LEDs strips while other two groups G1 and G2 contains eight Red LEDs strips. This kind of LED plant growth light can adjust the light intensity according to the plant demand, with simple structure, easy operation and low application cost, which can better ensure the growth and development of plants, shorten the growth cycle and effectively improve the yield.
